Accessibility

This site is built to be usable with a keyboard, a screen reader, a magnifier or a phone held one-handed. This page says what has actually been done, what is known to be awkward, and how to tell us if something gets in your way.

The short version

You never have to use this website to get a quote. Calling 07828 576618 or texting the same number reaches the same person and gets the same answer, and nobody is quoted differently for doing it that way.

What has been done

• Every page works with a keyboard alone. There is a “skip to content” link, visible focus outlines throughout, and menus close on Escape and return focus where you were.
• Headings run in order, so a screen reader can jump through a page by structure rather than reading it end to end.
• Every photograph has a written description of what is in the frame. Decorative pieces — the logo mark, arrows, ticks — are hidden from screen readers rather than read out as noise.
• Text meets contrast requirements against its background in both the light and dark parts of the site.
• Buttons and links are at least 32 pixels tall on a phone, checked automatically on every page rather than by eye.
• Form fields have real labels, errors are announced and explained in words rather than just turning a box red, and nothing is compulsory that does not need to be. Fields are 16 pixels so iOS does not zoom the page when you tap one.
• The opening animation and the scroll effects stop entirely if your device is set to reduce motion.
• The page does not scroll sideways at any width, and text reflows rather than being cut off when you zoom in.
• No pop-ups, no interstitials, no cookie banner, no chat bubble following you down the page.

Known limitations

Being straight about the things that are not perfect:

• The before-and-after slider. It is a slider you drag, so it needs a pointer or the arrow keys. Both photographs it compares also appear separately in the gallery, each with its own description, so nothing is only available inside the slider.
• Content appears as you scroll. Sections fade in as they come into view. With JavaScript off, or with reduce motion set, everything is simply there from the start.
• The gallery filters need JavaScript. Without it every photograph is shown, unfiltered, which is the useful fallback rather than an empty page.

What we aim at

The target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 at level AA. The site has been built and tested against it rather than certified, and testing so far has been automated checks plus keyboard and screen-reader passes — not a full independent audit. If you find something that falls short of that standard, we would like to hear about it.
