This page explains what happens to your details when you contact MNJ Trees & Landscapes. It is written in plain English, it is short because the site does very little with your data, and it covers the whole of it.

Who we are

MNJ Trees & Landscapes(“MNJ”, “we”, “us”) provides gardening, tree care and landscaping services. We decide how the information collected through this website is used, which makes us the data controller for it under UK data protection law.

You can reach us on 07828 576618 or at guilliganjim1@gmail.com. If you want to raise something about your data specifically, either is fine — it comes to the same person.

What we collect

Only what you choose to send us. There is no tracking on this website, no analytics and no advertising, so simply reading these pages tells us nothing about you.

If you use the quote form, we receive:

• your name and phone number
• your email address, if you give one — it is optional
• your postcode, so we know roughly where the job is
• the service you need and the description you write
• any photographs of the job you choose to attach
• how you would prefer to be contacted
• whether a discount applies to you, if you tell us

If you phone, text, message on WhatsApp or email instead, we receive whatever you choose to share that way. WhatsApp messages also pass through WhatsApp’s own service, under their terms rather than ours.

Please do not send payment details through this website. We never ask for card or bank details on a web form, and we would not ask you to enter them anywhere on this site.

The discount question, and why it is handled differently

The discount question on the quote form is optional. You can leave it alone, or choose “none of the above”, and it makes no difference to whether we quote for your job or what we quote.

If you do choose “customer with a disability”, you are giving us your explicit consent to use that one fact for one purpose: applying the discount to your quote. We do not ask for proof, we do not record any detail about your condition, and we do not use it for anything else. You can withdraw that consent at any time by telling us, and we will delete it — though we cannot undo a discount already applied to a finished job.

The NHS worker and senior citizen options are ordinary personal data rather than special category data, and are used the same way: to apply the discount, and nothing else.

How your enquiry reaches us

Depending on how the form is configured, one of two things happens. Either the enquiry is passed to our inbox through EmailJS, a service that exists to deliver website form submissions; or your own email app opens with the enquiry already written out, and you press send yourself. Either way it arrives in our email inbox, which is provided by Google.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

• To reply to your enquiry and quote for the work — our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us asking for a quote.
• To arrange and carry out work you go ahead with — performance of our contract with you.
• To apply a discount you have told us about — your consent, and for the disability option, your explicit consent as described above.
• To keep records of work done — our legal obligation to keep accounting records.

We do not use your details for marketing. We do not sell, rent or share them for advertising, and we will not add you to a mailing list.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not lead to work are kept for up to 12 months and then deleted. Records relating to work we have actually carried out are kept for six years, which is the period HMRC expects business records to be kept for. Photographs you send are kept with the enquiry and deleted on the same timetable, unless you have separately agreed we can use a photograph of the finished job.

Who else sees it

Only the suppliers that make the website and our email work. None of them use your details for their own purposes.

• EmailJS — delivers the quote form to our inbox, where the form is configured to send directly.
• Google — provides the email inbox your enquiry lands in.
• Vercel — hosts this website and keeps short-lived server logs, including IP addresses, for security and reliability. Those logs are not linked to your enquiry.

Some of these providers operate outside the UK. Where information reaches them, the transfer relies on the safeguards in those providers’ own data processing terms. We would also disclose information if we were legally required to, which has not happened.

Cookies and storage

This website sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device — no cookies, no local storage, no session storage, no tracking pixels. That is why you were not asked to accept anything when you arrived. The cookie policy sets out the detail.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

• give you a copy of what we hold about you
• correct anything that is wrong
• delete it
• stop using it, or restrict how we use it
• send it to you, or to someone else, in a portable format
• stop relying on legitimate interests, by objecting

Where we rely on your consent — the discount question — you can withdraw it at any time, and withdrawing it does not affect anything done before you did.

Email guilliganjim1@gmail.com and we will deal with it within one month. There is no charge. We may ask a question or two to check we are talking to the right person before sending anything out.

Complaints

If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Children

This website is meant for adults arranging work on a property. We do not knowingly collect information about children, and there is nothing on the site aimed at them.

Automated decisions

There are none. Every quote is worked out by a person looking at the job.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version appears on this page with a new date at the top. This version is dated 16 September 2026.
